Buying packaged dairy based dips at the supermarket might be the easy way out when throwing a party, but with a little planning and just a little time you can make semi-homemade dips that meet the allergy needs of your guests.

Vegan Green Pea Dip

Make this tasty plant-based green pea dip recipe. Use Birds Eye® Steamfresh Selects Sweet Peas to go with crudites and crackers for entertaining or for an on-the-go vegan snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (10 oz each) Birds Eye® Steamfresh Sweet Peas
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup DAVID® Sea Salt Pumpkin Pepitas
  • 1 small clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper

Directions

  1. Fill a medium bowl with ice water and set aside. Microwave Birds Eye® peas according to package instructions. Empty package into ice-bath to cool completely; drain.
  2. Add peas to food processor with remaining ingredients and blend until mixture is a coarse puree. Scrape into serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil and garnish with mint leaves.
  3. Serve vegan green pea dip with veggie sticks and chips or crackers.

This Dairy-Free Veggie Dip is a thick and creamy snack or appetizer you can make in just moments. Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise (avocado oil-based for Paleo; vegan mayonnaise for vegan)
  • ½ cup dairy-free sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh dill plus more for garnish, optional
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • zest from ½ lemon optional

Directions

  1.  In a medium mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients. Whisk or stir everything together until combined. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  2. Pour into a serving bowl and top with more minced fresh dill. Or chill it in the fridge for at least one hour to let it thicken up, then taste again to double-check the seasoning (chilling the dip can affect the flavor).
