High blood pressure is a common condition that often referred to as the “silent killer”. It is a condition that affects the body’s arteries and can significantly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke—two leading cause of death. It’s also called hypertension. If you have high blood pressure, the force of the blood pushing against the artery walls is consistently too high, requiring the heart to work harder to pump blood. The American Heart Association estimates that nearly half of all adults over the age of 20 have unhealthy blood pressure levels. however the most significant concern is that only one in four of them have their blood pressure under control.
You can have high blood pressure for years without any symptoms.
Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). In general, hypertension is a blood pressure reading of 130/80 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) or higher. Hypertension is defined as stage 1, when the top number ranges from 130 to 139 mm Hg or the bottom number is between 80 and 89 mm Hg. and stage 2, when the top number is 140 mm Hg or higher or the bottom number is 90 mm Hg or higher.
However, a new randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study out of Brazil shows that a daily dose of Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract (AGE) can significantly lower blood pressure in people with uncontrolled hypertension. In a 12-week study, participants between the ages of 19 and 59 were given 1.2 grams of aged garlic extract daily. After just 4 weeks, the researchers found that patients taking AGE had experienced an 18.6 mmHg reduction in their systolic blood pressure and a 10.6 mmHg reduction in their diastolic blood pressure. After 12 weeks, the AGE group’s systolic blood pressure had stabilized, with an average 18.1 mmHg drop from the beginning of the trial. There was also a positive correlation between healthier blood pressure and the dietary intake of vitamins B9 and B12 among those taking AGE. In addition, AGE modestly affected LDL cholesterol, blood sugar, and stool consistency. What’s more, the study’s authors noted that AGE was safe and well tolerated. It’s important to have your blood pressure checked at least every two years, starting at age 18. Some people need more frequent checks.
Kyolic AGE, has been the subject of more than 900 scientific articles, is naturally aged to optimize garlic’s beneficial compounds, especially the active sulphur compound S-allylcysteine (SAC). This unique aging process also makes AGE odorless, considerably more stable, and bioavailable than other types of supplemental garlic.
The findings build upon other clinical trials conducted at research institutes like the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Australia’s University of Adelaide, which show that AGE provides blood pressure benefits similar to first-line medication used to treat uncontrolled hypertension. And each of these studies has found that AGE does this safely without the side effects common to blood pressure-lowering drugs.
Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract has repeatedly shown reproducible benefits for supporting healthy blood pressure levels, even in at-risk populations. These latest findings provide even more welcomed news to the millions of people at risk of hypertension. Do not let the name fool you; there is no garlic taste in these supplements.
