How to make Classic Corn Flake Christmas Wreath Cookie
Ingredients
- 30 Large Marshmallows
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter
- 4 cups Corn Flakes
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Green Food Coloring
- 60 Cinnamon Red Candies
Directions
- Gather all your Ingredients.
- Melt the butter: Using low heat, melt the butter in the pot. It is important to use low heat so you don’t burn the butter. If you try and speed things up by turning up the heat, so it melts faster, there is a higher chance it will burn.
- Add the marshmallows to the butter. Add the marshmallows to the melted butter. Keep the stove on low heat and let the marshmallows melt. Continue stirring the mixture. If you leave it alone, the mixture heats up in one spot and you increase your chance of burning the mixture. Keep stirring until all the marshmallows are melted, then remove it from the heat.
- Add the pure vanilla extract and the green food coloring to the mixture and stir. Make sure you get the sides of the pot. You want all the marshmallows/butter mixture to be green.
- Add the corn flakes, and coat them all. This is the messy part and takes a bit of patience as it is sometimes tricky to get all the nooks and crannies coated with the green mixture. If you don’t get it all, that is fine. The cookies will taste the same, even if a few flakes don’t get coated.
- Spoon mixture onto wax paper in your desired size. Using a medium or large spoon, drop the mixture onto your prepared sheets of wax paper. Try to shape these into actual wreaths with a circle or hole in the middle.
- Add the cinnamon candies. The classic recipe calls for cinnamon candies to decorate. You can also decorate them with red M&M or even red cherry licorice formed into bows.
- Let the cookies cool for an hour before storing in an airtight container.
