What is CBD Oil?

Cannabidiol is what is known as a naturally occurring chemical compound found in the Cannabis sativa plant, which is more commonly known as marijuana. Cannabidiol makes up around 40% of cannabis extracts, and has been studied for many different purposes. Cannabinoids are produced within the body, and are generally known as endocannabinoids. Serotonin then acts to improve mood, and reduce stress levels within the body. Serotonin also acts by binding to its receptors in the brain cells. A series of events are triggered within each brain cell when all of the substances bind to their respective receptors, leading to processes that improve mood and stress control.

A 2011 case study found that cannabidiol could help reduce social anxiety, the study consisted of looking at whether or not cannabidiol could assist with public speaking. Research that was published in 2014 had found that CBD oil has an anti-anxiety and antidepressant effect in an animal model.
